On January 22, artist Richard Jackson completed his first part of the program entitled “Accidents in Abstract Painting”. In this spectacle which took place at the adjacent grounds of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, a radio-controlled model military plane, crashed into a twenty-foot canvas. The plane’s wings and fuselage where filled with paint. The second part will be an exhibition at the Armory Center for the Arts and will feature the detritus of the happening, video and still photography documentation and other work. The opening reception will take place on February 11, from 7:00-9:00pm.
